How to Get Jobs Using Linkedin

Introduction

what’s going on everybody my name is Nouman and today we’re going to be walking through my top three tips on how to use linkedin to land a job linkedin is a fantastic place to look for a job it’s its little ecosystem where career driven people can connect and talk with one another and help each other find jobs i have landed jobs through linkedin and so i know how effective it can be let’s jump over to my screen and i’m going to show you My top three methods for really obtaining a job that I’ve discovered to work best

Tip 1 – Reach Out to Recruiters Instead of Just Applying

Now that I’m signed into my fully anonymous account, I’ll give you the first piece of advice, which is that you shouldn’t merely apply for a job; you have to be contacting the recruiter directly, and I’ll demonstrate how to accomplish that for you.

Finding the Right Job Before Contacting Recruiters

So the first thing that we have to do is find a job that we want to apply to, so let’s go to the job section right over here. e It will look for data analyst jobs in Chicago, so let’s do that and search for a data analyst there, since, well, why not? I don’t want to apply for positions for which I’m not highly qualified, so let’s see what it looks like. We have one right here. Thiss is a job that I want to apply for.

Deciding If a Job is a Good Fit

And before I go and apply to the job, I want to see if I can reach out to a recruiter and talk to them beforehand, so let me show you how to do that.t

Navigating to the Company’s Linkedin Profile

So what we’re going to do is click on the company right here, it’s going to take us to their LinkedIn profile page for their entire company, and we’re going to scroll down,n we’re going to go over people, le and then we’re going to search for a recruiter.

Searching for and Connecting with Recruiters

so if we scroll down to the bottom we can see that there are recruiters that actually work in-house for this company and so now would be a time where reach out to some of these recruiters and i say hey i see a job that i like i think i’m qualified for and i would love to talk more about it with you

What to Ask a Recruiter Before Applying

To make sure the position is a suitable fit for you, you can ask them questions about it. After that, I strongly advise you to find out what they think. The best way to apply for this job is to make sure that your resume gets noticed and you get an interview, since they are a recruiter who works at this company, they may be the one who’s going to be looking at these resumes, and so they may give you a tip on the best way to apply.

How a Recruiter Can Help Boost Your Application

They might also simply ask you to email them your CV so they can review it, or perhaps this will be the case in the future. Is a person who’s reviewing resumes and so if they come across your resume they may be able to put a face to the name and that may give you bonus points i’m going to leave a template script in the description in case you don’t know exactly what you want to say this recruiter and it’ll give you just a baseline of some of the things you may wish to express

Tip 2 – Ask for a Referral

If you’re not familiar with the term, a referral is when someone who already works for the company recommends you for a particular position, and it may move you up the interview list a bit. For this reason, I strongly advise getting in touch with someone who already works there and asking if they would be willing to refer you.

Why Referrals Matter in Job Applications

I frequently receive requests from people who want to be referred to me for a position at my company, and I usually say yes. I always ask to see their resume first to make sure it somewhat fits the position, but there is really no harm in me referring someone; in fact, I might receive a bonus if they are hired. Therefore, there is generally very little risk for the employee—it’s just a referral—and they will frequently say yes.

Finding Employees with Similar Job Titles

It’s very similar to finding a recruiter, so we’ll stay on this people section, but instead of looking for a recruiter, we’ll look for a job title that sounds like yours. Let’s actually see if they have any data analysts already, and if they do, we’ll get in touch with them because they’ll likely be the person we connect with the best.

Reaching Out to Potential Referrers

Let’s scroll down to see that we have six employees. All of them appear to have jobs involving data, so I would reach out to them and say, “I saw an open data analyst position at your company. I would love to know more about your company as a whole.” After a brief conversation, your goal is to ask them for a referral; if that occurs, that’s great. You can then apply for the job and mark them as a referral for you.

Tip 3 – Get Recruiters to Reach Out to You

Let me now demonstrate how to persuade recruiters to contact you, which is my third piece of advice on how to use LinkedIn to land a job.

Updating Your “Open to Work” Settings

There are a few things we want to make sure we have on here so that recruiters can get in touch with us. The first thing I want to do is go to this section right here, which is called “Show Recruiters You’re Open to Work.” When I click on this, I can choose some job titles and some locations where I actually want to apply and have recruiters get in touch with me. It’s the first thing we’re going to do.

Choosing Job Titles and Locations

I currently live in the DFW area and work with data analysts. In order to entice recruiters to get in touch with me regarding positions that interest me, I can also include titles like business analyst, junior data analyst, entry-level data analyst, or anything comparable.

Controlling Who Sees Your Job Search

It appears that it was updated, so now when recruiters are looking for candidates for a particular position, you will be on that list so that they can find you and get in touch with you. You can also state that you are actively and immediately applying, and that you are only looking for full-time or contract positions. Finally, you can add this to your profile, and I only want recruiters to see that because I currently work at McDonald’s, and I don’t want them to fire me because I’m looking for work elsewhere.

Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile Title and Photo

I should also add that in order to make you look great, I would try to include a professional photo on your profile page. Additionally, if you already have a data analyst job and are looking for another, you can use your former employer. However, if you’re looking for a data analyst position, you can always use seeking data analyst employment or something similar.

Writing Strong Work Experience Descriptions

Having excellent descriptions of your prior work is something else that I believe is very important. I don’t currently have this, but I would briefly review the work that I do to make sure the experience kind of fits what you’re looking for, if you possess prior experience, but it’s also acceptable if you don’t.

Updating and Showcasing Your Skills Section

Your skill section is the next area of your profile page that I would advise reviewing and updating. You should go in there and make sure that all of your relevant, really data analyst-heavy skills are listed there, especially hard skills, as soft skills won’t translate very well into this section. I would stick to tools that analysts will use, like SQL, Python, Tableau, and Excel, because that’s where they’ll look to see if you have the skills they need for that position.

Conclusion

whe i applied for a job without using any of these strategies, then my success rate was 0.04. I applied to about 1,000 jobs and only got four interviews. When I used these tips, I got 10 to 15 interviews.. Because I was applying to fewer jobs and focusing on those jobs that wanted to get that is I made an effort to make connections with people and work with the recruiters to get that job.
I hope that you find these points helpful, especially if you’re applying for jobs right now
