• Starting from £34,600 per year, rising to about £42,800 after one year

• Includes a £27,000 joining bonus and extra sea pay

To maintain modern aircraft—planes, helicopters, and drone systems—as airworthy and prepared for battle, the Air Engineer Officer commands a group of qualified experts.
Working under pressure and frequently in distant areas, the officer may be in handling duties like testing, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and mentor Air Engineering Technicians in RNAS and aboard ships

• Maintain and test aircraft systems, including propulsion, weapons, and navigation

• Coordinate with other specialists to deliver engineering solutions from design to deployment

Who Can Apply

• Aged between 18 and 39 (can apply from 15¾, but must be 18 on joining)

• Possess a STEM degree

Training & Career Development

• Eligible to gain Chartered Engineer status with support for up to MSc-level engineering studies
