Being an Engineer Troop Officer is a mix of leadership, engineering, and hands-on action. You can lead a team that makes bases, clears mines, and blows up bridges when needed. You are not standing on the ground; you can make real things happen on the ground.

You don’t need a degree to start, though technical or engineering skills help
Must pass Army fitness tests (e.g., mid-thigh pull, medicine ball throw, beep test)
Open to British, Irish, and Commonwealth applicants
You’ll start at Sandhurst for basic officer training, then head to the Royal School of Military Engineering. There are around six months of troop command training focused on engineering principles, leadership, and tactics. You learn how to lead your soldiers and get the job done—whether it’s in camp or combat.
