About the Role

Being an Infantry Soldier means being at the heart of the Army. You’ll train, live, and work with your team, ready to take on a range of tasks from protecting people to assisting during emergencies. Every day is different, and the bond with your mates is something that lasts for life.

What You’ll Do

• Learn to use different weapons and equipment

• Travel and deploy to countries all over the world

• Take part in peacekeeping and security missions

• Train outdoors in different environments

• Build strong teamwork and leadership skills

Who Can Join

• Age: 16 to 35 years and 6 months      (Note: at least 16 years old and no older than 35 years and 6 months)

• No qualifications needed

• Must meet the Army’s fitness standards

• Must be British, Irish, or from the Commonwealth

Training

Training begins with learning basic soldier skills, including fitness, first aid, and the use of weapons. If you’re younger than 17½, you’ll begin at Harrogate. After that, you’ll move on to more advanced training where you’ll learn the full role of an Infantry Soldier. You’ll also get the chance to earn useful qualifications and even driving licences.
